The CONTEXT Smart Home Consumer Survey - January 2016
Building on the success of the first Smart Home survey published in September 2015, CONTEXT has published a second survey in January 2016 which incorporates new questions to understand what is motivating consumers (or not) to purchase smart home products. There are now 26 questions and 5 countries have been included in the survey – France, UK, Germany and now Italy and Spain for the first time. 2,500 consumers across the 5 countries were polled in this survey.
For the first time CONTEXT has published a barometer of smart home attitudes in which Germany leads Europe with a barometer score of 62/100 and the average for Europe is 32/100. This barometer will be published every 4 months to track the change in attitudes as smart home becomes a more generally adopted technology.
CONTEXT has brought together three Smart Home Associations – the Smart Homes & Building s Association in the UK, the Fédération Française de Domotique in France and the Smart Home Initiative in Germany. Also in this group are representatives of the Smart Home Industry – Euronics, the international retailer, Deutsche Telekom and D-Link. The surveys have been constructed with the input and advice of these companies, known as the Smart Home Research Group.
